Lives and works in Sardinia

Alessandro Sau works on a profound revaluation of fine art as a essential medium of cognitive experience. Pursuing a concept of totality within artistic form, his work represents a creative process which unifies human and animal experience, aesthetic and natural creation. Alessandro Sau is also the co-founder (together with Enrico Piras) of Montecristo Project, an exhibition space created in 2016 in a deserted island along the Sardinian coasts. This project is the result of a common need to gather artistic, theoric and expositive researches so to practice an alternative to common curatorial practice. This research is based on the construction of both spatial and conceptual contexts that can ideally host the works of the artist they cooperate with: this operation is also mirrored through the use of photographic documentation.

Alessandro Sau and Enrico Piras started their collaboration in december 2013 with the project Occhio Riflesso. Since then they developed a practice based on the conditions of display, presentation and documentation of artworks. Photographic practice is intended as a method to problematize, through the installation shot, the relations between work and space in their reciprocal legitimation.
